Our Math Program primarily focuses on strengthening logical thinking as a priority. Through stimulating challenges and exercises, we elevate students’ mathematical prowess. Our elementary math program aligns with the Singapore Math curriculum, positioning students a full year ahead of the common core standards. In the dynamic transition to 5th and 6th Grade, our curriculum propels students forward by an impressive year and a half. As we journey into middle school, our focus intensifies on high school-level mastery. With a comprehensive exploration of Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry, we empower our middle schoolers to delve deeply into the heart of the high school common core standards.
In our lower elementary classes, spanning from kindergarten to 2nd grade, we follow the Singapore Math curriculum. We foster the acquisition of concepts through interactive, hands-on activities, fully engaging students in an active learning process. Each lesson is scrupulously aligned with the state Common Core standards, positioning our students a year ahead, to ensure a robust educational foundation. Through a strategic approach of developing, reviewing, and practicing concepts over time, we cultivate a profound and enduring understanding in our students, equipping them to confidently retain and apply their newly acquired knowledge.
Moving on to our upper elementary program, tailored for 3rd to 6th graders, our mission goes beyond reinforcing current concepts. We strive to provide a forward-looking approach, equipping students with both current and future curriculum insights. From mastering effective notetaking to solving real-world word problems, our curriculum equips students with vital skills. Furthermore, our focus on common-core aligned test problems empowers students to excel academically while building a strong mathematical foundation. By the culmination of 6th grade, students will have completed the entire middle school math curriculum. Upon entering 7th grade, we transition to high school-level math classes, delving into more advanced concepts.
Algebra 1 is frequently known as the gatekeeper subject. The course is used in many professions and is the first in a series of higher-level math classes students need in order to succeed in college and life. Students transition from concrete arithmetic to the symbolic language of algebra, allowing the development of abstract reasoning skills necessary to excel in math and science. Students will be introduced to new concepts such as factoring, algebraic proofs, and quadratic equations.
Venturing into Algebra 2, students delve even deeper into the captivating world of algebra. This course continues to fortify their mathematical foundation, paving the way for more intricate problem-solving skills. Algebra 2 equips students with the tools to analyze and solve complex equations, further honing their logical thinking and critical reasoning abilities.
Geometry introduces students to the art of structured reasoning. With a dual focus on theory and practical application, this course unveils the formal and informal aspects of geometric thought. Students explore diverse approaches, spanning synthetic, coordinate, and transformational methods, while mastering key theorems and proofs. Navigating through concepts like perspective, space, and dimension, students refine their logical faculties, enhancing their ability to dissect intricate problems and construct convincing arguments. Our Geometry course is a gateway to perceptive thinking and a foundation for success in higher mathematical pursuits.
