My name is Lian Ma. I teach 4th and 5th grade math and tutor 6th and 7th grade students. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Fudan University and MBA degree from San Diego State University. After years of working in corporations I decided to be a full-time mom. During the years of raising my daughter, I tutored her in math and Chinese from Kindergarten through 12th grade. She scored 800 on SAT II Math, a 5 in AP Calculus, and a 5 in AP Chinese. I also volunteered in every school my daughter attended. It was during those volunteer hours when I experienced for the rest time how rewarding it was to interact with students and make a positive impact on them.

I have been teaching at Genius Academy since 2016. I chose to teach here because I am convinced that Genius Academy is one of the few schools in the area that offer high-quality K-8th after-school programs. My goal is to challenge students to learn and inspire them to love learning. In my spare time, I love experimenting food from different cultures.
